Speed Of Rep

When performing an all out bodybuilding rep it is important to eliminate all momentum possible. Let the muscle do all the work to move the force. After all, your objective is to get the muscle to do all the work.

The only way to control the rep is to perform a slow, continuous tension gathering rep. I always recommend a minumum of two seconds positive, and 4 seconds negative motion. The longer you execute the rep, the greater tension you will place on your neuromuscular system. This translates into a higher intensity.

So the next time you are in the gym think slow, controlled exercise movement. Let the muscle do all the work!
